Mechanical vibration. It’s a much overlooked evil in the audio chain. And in fairness, it’s easy to underestimated the sonic impact of vibration on our audio components. Sure, a stable base and solid furniture is an important starting point when positioning our beloved products, but it’s really only a nice start. Some time ago, at the urging of various colleagues, we received a stack of Harmonic Resolution Systems components – HRS for short – to be integrated into our demo sets with some skepticism. The sense of easy and absence of noise clouding small sonic details turned out to be nothing short of astonishing, purely by properly isolating the audio components from vibrations. Disconnect or drain. Isolate and stabilize.

With HRS, the choice for the best result is quickly made and there is always a solution. Assuming maximum stability and isolation, a dedicated audio rack is of course the best. And although HRS is certainly the largest in this field in the big USofA, their rack solutions are unfortunately far from a bargain. Quite understandable given the use of materials and the technical innovation. With the idea of making his expertise more widely accessible and versatile, HRS owner and engineer Michael Latvis has been working on a new modular solution. A solution that summarizes his 40 years of experience in a sleek and easily expandable rack system that is also a lot more accessible in terms of price. Introducing the HRS EXR Audio Stand System.

An audio rack is not always desirable or placeable, so our audio delicacies soon find a place on an ‘ordinary’ piece of furniture or sideboard. HRS has its Isolation Bases specifically for those applications. Specially formulated platforms with energy-dissipating core and feet adapted to the device that decouple or drain – whatever is best for the device. The plateaus come in different shapes, sizes and quality levels. The feet, or footers in HRS jargon, are removable and can therefore be adapted to the function. And let that be exactly the starting point of the EXR Audio Stand System.

The EXR system is basically an E1X Isolation Base equipped with four special EXR Frame Mounts – an extremely solid aluminum base with integrated insulator that is mounted directly under the Isolation Base. These four Frame Mounts are equipped with an adjustable spike at the bottom for stable placement and optimal mechanical coupling with minimal contact surface. The unique asymmetrical design of the 4 legs creates an extremely rigid rack system that can easily be adapted to the number of components to be placed. It sounds super simple and it is, but the impact of an EXR Audio Stand on the sound is far from subtle. The increase in tranquility and focus in the sound image together translate into a kind of stress relief that you didn’t know you needed – until then.

The Isolation bases of the EXR stand are available in 2 sizes. The EXR-1921 with a size of 53.3 cm wide and 48.3 cm deep and the EXR-1719 with a width of 48.3 cm and a depth of 43.2 cm. Especially for smaller audio components or, for example, a Headphone Amp, HRS has the EXR-9.5 with a size of 24 cm wide and 38 cm deep. Custom sizes are also possible without any problem.

For example, if you want to create an ultimate basis for a power amplifier or integrated amplifier placed in the middle of your speakers, you start with a single EXR-1921-1V or EXR-1719-1V that consists of the Frame Mounts with spikes, the platter and the finishing caps for the top of the Frame Mounts. All available in black or silver.

To be able to place 3 audio components, you order an EXR-3V version where the standard choice for the legs varies in 4 variants, so that the height between the components is 15.2 cm, 20.3 cm, 25.4 cm or 30.5 cm.

Upgrading from a single rack to a 2 or multiple version is also perfectly possible. Upgrading the sound with higher quality Isolation Bases is also possible.
