A nice, warm media room for the whole family. That was the starting point for the design of this Cinema. Line play, speaker locations, acoustics and interior design were the responsibility of Reference Sounds. The customer himself selected the material colors to match the rich and energetic color palette in the rest of the house. The result is a compact Cinema with a classic character but sleek and modern lines.
invisible sound
We integrated a total of thirteen JBL Synthesis loudspeakers around the centrally placed sofa, completely concealed in our custom wall and ceiling elements. The systematic placement of absorption and loudspeakers makes the space of four by four meters ‘sound’ much grander than it actually is.
custom furniture and accents
The film image is projected on a 210 cm wide, acoustically transparent projection screen. The LCR or screen loudspeakers thus find a perfect spot in the acoustically optimized baffle wall behind the projection screen. Oak accent frames break the otherwise black surface of this wall and accentuate the height to continue smoothly under the screen in the oak technical furniture. Amplification, game consoles and video sources are therefore partly hidden behind the furniture’s flap box.
Two JBL Synthesis SSW-3 in-wall subwoofers in the corners of the baffle wall in combination with the optimized acoustics provide an impressive but balanced bass foundation. The oak accent frames can be found on the acoustic back wall of the room and as moldings around the wall and ceiling panels.
integrated lighting
We mounted two free-hanging clouds on the ceiling, each with two JBL Synthsis SCL-8 speakers as Dolby Atmos channels. Super beautifully integrated lighting provides a wonderful, warm atmosphere.
grandeur of sound and film experience
Everything has been carefully calibrated by us using the DIRAC Live software. The grandeur of the sound is striking. Despite the fact that the space is almost square and not too big, the illusion of a grand, immersive film experience is created. The impact of the two subwoofers is fantastic and mega tight. Dialogues are crystal clear and, thanks to JBL Synthesis’ HDI technology, super crisp and energetic. Gaming, film or series, watching a film in this wonderful space feels like coming home.
