Cinewall Reference Sounds Style

TV plays a central role in many households and the endless supply of films, series and documentaries provide a welcome escape from the issues of the day. Although we love all the technology that fills our room with powerful sound, we think that for the ideal experience you should not see anything. That is why we design and realize custom TV walls in which the speakers merge invisibly into a beautifully shaped cabinet. Our expertise in interior design, acoustics and cinema design, coupled with our own interior builder, form a unique mix of special qualities that we see and hear in the result.

Each design is a combination of the ideal viewing height of the TV and the physical location of the speakers. Certainly the mutual distances of the speakers, the way of placement and the location of the subwoofers have a huge impact on the sound. Just like the way the speakers are built into the cabinet. In fact, the cabinet itself forms part of the loudspeaker and therefore of the sound end result.  

For the Living of our Experience Center, the sketch started around a 75” QLED TV flush built into a shallow niche. We find the front speakers to the left and right of the TV. Perfectly turned towards the listener in a solid, acoustically optimized cabinet. Above that we find the dual 8” subwoofers. Mounted in its own frame, acoustically decoupled from the rest of the cabinet. Below the screen we find the center speaker. When the listening position for the TV is mainly between the stereo speakers, the center is not always a must, but it is very nice. He glues everything that happens on screen to the screen sound-wise. Intelligibility and credibility take a big leap. If you also want to enjoy a throbbing sound image from your lounge corner, the center speaker is indispensable. We place the center in a solid, decoupled cabinet. Aimed at the listening position. Here we find 2 speakers in addition to the center speaker that we can use as left and right front speakers if desired – instead of the models next to the screen. This way, after some conversion, we can also show what is possible if someone has no room for speakers next to the TV.

The loudspeakers are hidden from view by doors that are covered with an acoustically transparent fabric on the entire front. Here we opt for doors so that we can provide a view of the technology with a simple push on the front. In a home situation that is of course not necessarily necessary – but nice. The fabric is available in at least 25 different colours. Here we opt for a strong contrast. Less conspicuous is of course also possible.

All control technology is given a place in the inconspicuous valve box under the center speaker. Cabling and equipment run completely inside the cabinet and are therefore invisible. The whole thing is controlled with a universal remote from Savant, specially programmed for this system. A simple press of the ‘watch movie’ button starts up all the necessary components while you stretch out on the couch.

Surround speakers pull you into the film and turn every scene into a three-dimensional experience. Yet it is not always easy to give them a place. We therefore built a beautiful cabinet around it, completely in line with the TV cabinet itself. The surround speakers themselves are also ideally positioned in an acoustically optimized cabinet, decoupled from the rest.

To complete the immersive sound experience, we place four Atmos speakers in the suspended plaster ceiling. Of course, a hole of about 30 cm in a concrete ceiling is a bit of a challenge. For those situations, we often realize ‘clouds’ freely hanging or tightly mounted elements under the existing ceiling. Tightly upholstered with integrated speakers, acoustics and possibly lighting. 

The sound of our solutions cannot be compared to the average soundbar or surround set. Although they can certainly sound bombastic given the size and humming subwoofer in the corner of the room, we look for it much more in refinement and resolution. The crystal clear sounds of our solutions in which JBL’s specialized products always play an important role sound big, warm and lifelike. The discrete reproduction of every sound with a dedicated speaker requires more space than the often seen biscuit tins against the wall, but really conjures you up to another world. The art of integrating this beautifully into the interior is one of our greatest challenges and specialties.

Netflix of the Masked Singer. Formula 1 or Fortnite. Everything gets more impact through our carefully composed Cinewall solutions. In addition, the cabinet around the TV can be made completely according to your wishes and taste. Here, for example, the compartments are about 35 cm deep and equipped with integrated lighting so that my wife could go wild with various accessories. However, the minimum depth is about 15 centimeters. Black HPL with wood grain, wood veneer or spray. Wider, higher, narrower. Everything is possible.
